In Hindu stories, Suvela is a legendary mountain most connected to the story of Ramayana. Found near Lanka, this rough mountain was very important when Lord Rama attacked the island.
The Ramayana tells us about Lord Rama, who wanted to stop at Suvela Mountain with his friends Vibhishana and Sugreeva before they tried to see the city of Lanka. Climbing the mountain with Lakshmana and their soldiers, they saw a beautiful view of Lanka. The whole team spent the night camping on the mountain.
Moreover, Suvela Mountain turned into the place for Sugreeva’s brave jump to challenge Ravana, a bad king. When Rama’s group stopped at Suvela, they saw Ravana at a city gate. Grabbing the chance, Sugreeva jumped and landed on top of the gate. Then he started fighting hard with Ravana. In a never-ending fight, Sugreeva wore down Ravana until he could go back and join his monkey friends again.
